Robotech Armored Cyclone
Took some picture of the Armored Cyclone motorcycle toy that I had. This motorcycle was made by Matchbox and can't really transform to armor mode. Not sure when I bought this, but most likely it was somewhere around 1987-1988. When I bought this the box was already battered and only the cycle was inside it. No stickers, but I read that there are supposed to be stickers that go along with this. The cycle is made of plastic with rubber tires and held together by screws.
The only instructions that remained with the kit was this simple sheet manual for the stickers.
Armored Cyclone originally came out in the Genesis Climber Mospeada anime series that was then joined together with Macross SDF 1 and Southern Cross by Harmony Gold in order to make the Robotech series that was successfully marketed by them in Northern America.
In the Anime series the rider of this motorcycle could use it as an armored suit that wrapped around his body when transformed from motorcycle mode. Aside from the weapons and armor it also gave the user some short flying time. More like hopping really.
More pictures found in the succeeding pages.
Not much can be said about this toy since it doesn't transform. Since the size of the Robotech figures made by Matchbox is similar in size to a GI Joe Real American Hero Figure I played with this often as a vehicle for my GI Joe's. Typically it was Lt. Falcon who got to ride in this. Thanks to the foot pegs common in action figures, the figure could be secured onto the motorcycle.
The front blasters can be detached from the front wheel
Incase somebody wants to find out what the underside looks like *snicker*
