1/100 GN-002 Gundam Dynames Assembly Part VI
After a 3 month hiatus I started building again the non-grade 1/100 GN-002 Gundam Dynames. Previous step can be found here. From the previous step most of the body was already finished. All that was left missing was the head, the hands and the weapons.
Majority of the delay was caused by my loss of a workspace. With the loss of my workspace I kinda lost my drive to build the kit because it would be such a hassle to go out of the house all the time just to spray paint the kit. Dunno why but I suddenly got my drive back. Of course I can't safely assume that even with this second wind whether I'll be able to finish the build as quickly.
One of the things I was procrastinating on also was how to paint the red parts of the antenna. I didn't want to use the foil stickers that came with the kit that was supposed to go on that red part. In the end I ended up decanting the fire red spray paint I had then using a brush to paint it on the antenna. The green part of the face mask of the Dynames I also wanted to paint on, but in the ended I decided to just use the foil stickers that came with the kit.
Was also able to panel line the kit, I just used Gundam Marker Fine black for this task. I'm thinking of using pastels to add a shadow around the white parts. I was experimenting a few days ago with some artist pastel chalks and was able to figure out why it wouldn't stick on a previous build I worked on. Turns out that the powdered up pastel chalk won't stick on a glossy surface that well. Since the white parts of the Dynames use a matte white color, the pastel can easily stick on the surface. Easy to work with too, because if you make a mistake since you can use an eraser to erase your mistakes. For the green parts I'll have to spray on a coat of matte clear first so that the pastel can cling on to the surface. Afterwards I'll seal the whole thing with matte clear so that the pastel won't be easily rubbed off.
Part VII of this build can be found here.
