Heat

Heat 1995 Movie

The 1995 movie entitled Heat was for me, one of the best bank heist movies ever made. It had an all star cast top billed by Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. It's a great movie with an interesting plot, because aside from the robbery theme, it takes a peek into the intertwined and personal lives of cops and robbers. Then there is also the added dash of treachery that further spiced up the story. And because of that the movie is nearly 3 hours long!

The story revolves around a crew of professional high stakes robbers headed by Robert De Niro and the Police who try to stop them that were headed by Al Pacino.

Another thing that made this movie great was the action packed firefight scenes that could be defined as having reached epic proportion. You can read up more about the plot of the movie here.

This movie made bank robbers look cool, with the dapper suits, shades and assault rifles...which when you think about it, isn't exactly morally right...hehehe Nothing could be more cooler than watching Val Kilmer fire away with his assault rifle... oh yeah, there were the Matrix movies that also featured well dressed, sunglasses wearing folks with assault rifles.

The funny thing about me watching this movie was that I watched it about 3 years after it initially came out. A friend lent me a VHS of it because he said that it was a great movie (VHS what's that? *snicker*)

During college I had a weekly ritual where in if I got off from class early I would go and watch a movie. When I chanced upon its movie poster at the theatre I thought it would be a boring movie, so I didn't bother to watch it. This just proves that you shouldn't judge a movie based on its movie poster alone... hehehe Thanks to the Internet, your chance to know more about a movie aren't dependent on stand alone movie posters or press-release type articles in the newspapers.
