Marvel Superheroes Role Playing Game by TSR
Found this while rummaging through my stuff. Its my collection of the Marvel Superheroes Role Playing Game made by TSR. TSR is the same company that brought you the Dungeons and Dragons Game. I got this around 1986. I got the Basic Set and the Advanced set, along with some two other optional reference books. What was different between the Basic & Advanced set?, the rules were a little bit more complex for the advanced set.
Back in the day, I was really into Marvel Comics and when I saw this in the hobby shop I just had to get it. I got hooked into RPG from my friends who introduced me to Star Frontiers. The sad thing about this is that my friends and I only got to play the game once and we didn't even finish. Of course at that time my friends and I were hitting puberty already so we quickly lost interest in the game. Despite my age, I'm still raring to play this game... as a player of course and not as a judge... hehehe
The basic set comprised of the Battle Book
Campaign Book
Some Character Cards that you could cut out
And the Day of the Octopus adventure scenario.
Some Ten sided dice
Not shown in the picture was the scenario map for the Day of the Octopus Adventure and some character cut outs for use on the map
The Core of the game relied on the Universal Table which was printed at the back of each book. It basically determines whether the FEAT (any player action) the player (or judge controlled player) executed was a success. Of course the player (or judge) has to initiate a dice toss first.
The Advanced set comprised of the Player's book
Judges' book
Some miniature character cut outs for use on a map
Character information cut outs with character information at the back
Some optional books I bought were the Weapons Locker, which had character and weapons info on mecha related villians and heroes from the Marvel Universe
Then there was the Children of the Atom, which was a character info guide on most of the mutant characters in the Marvel Universe.
