Together with the 1/144 Real Grade Gundam Mk-II Titans, Bandai released this, the AEUG version. It differs with the white color scheme. The Gundam Mk-II was piloted by Kamile Bidan for the AEUG in the Zeta Gundam Anime series.
RX-178 GUNDAM MK II (AEUG)
In the opening story of Zeta Gundam, Kamile is a willing party to the hijacking of the Gundam Mk-II by a crew from the AEUG that was led by Quattro Bajeena (a disguised Char Aznable.) Afterwards, the AEUG repainted the Mk-II to white and made it part of their mobile suit inventory.
I'm thinking that the changing of the color of the Mk II to a white one is a coincidence. In World War II however it was common for armies to expropriate captured enemy equipment for their own use as long as they added their insignia on it so that it can be easily identified by the other side as an enemy craft already. Not really sure if there is a definite rule on that in the Geneva Convention or they just did that so their allies in turn wouldn't shoot them *snicker*
